DURANT, Okla. –
Ivy Amador provided three home runs on the day and
Mykaela Wallace added the heroics in game two as Southeastern picked up an 8-4 win in the series opener with Ouachita Baptist before finishing the day with a 10-9 come-from-behind walk-off victory in game two on Friday afternoon at the Southeastern Softball Field.
The wins lift the Savage Storm to 13-21 overall and 11-13 in Great American Conference play heading into Saturday's series-ending double-header slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
Saturday's game will also feature a pregame presentation before the opener recognizing Harold Harmon for his 50 years of covering Southeastern.
Amador homered twice in the opening contest and drove in three runs to lead the Storm, while
Destiny Riddle,
Mykaela Wallace and
Kamarie Wallace each added a pair of hits.
Riddle added two RBI, while
Symphoni Shomo,
Katie McCullar and
Kamarie Wallace each drove in a run.
McCullar picked up the win after tossing all seven innings and facing 28 of the 29 batters faced in the contest, allowing four runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.
Riddle faced one batter.
SE fell behind in the top of the second inning as OBU took a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer.
The Storm got an answer in the bottom of the third inning as Amador led off with a solo shot to close the gap to 2-1.
That would last until the top of the fourth when the Tigers connected on a solo homer to stretch the lead to 3-1.
Amador would come up again in the bottom of the fourth inning and provide a repeat performance, this time connecting on a two-run homer to knot the game at 3-3 after four innings.
Kamarie Wallace would put the Storm in front in the bottom of the fifth with her first home run of the year, clearing the left field wall and putting SE up 4-3.
A solo homer by McCullar pushed the lead to 5-3 before a Shomo RBI single was followed by a two-run Riddle single to open up an 8-3 lead after six innings.
OBU tacked on a run in the top of the seventh, but the Storm would hold on for the 8-4 victory.
Karsyn Brigance turned in three hits in the effort, including a home run, while Watson, Thompson, and
Mykaela Wallace each added two hits.
Wallace drove in three runs, while Amador added two RBI and her third home run of the day.
Thompson, McCullar, and Brigance each added an RBI.
Emily Cudd got the start and tossed five innings, allowing three runs on three hits with one strikeout but took a no decision.
McCullar picked up the win with two innings of relief work in which she allowed six runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
SE opened game two with a Shomo single and she followed it up by stealing second, third, and home all during Riddle's at bat to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.
The Storm used stealing again in the third as Brigance came home on a fielder's choice as OBU went for Deanda stealing second and SE went ahead 2-0.
A McCullar double in the fourth would plate Thompson and stretch the Storm lead to 3-0.
OBU found an answer in the top of the fifth with a three-run homer to tie the game before adding an RBI single in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead.
Watson would double to lead off the bottom of the sixth and two batters later Amador connected on her third home run of the day, triggering back-to-back-to-back bombs with
Mykaela Wallace and Brigance adding solo shots to push the Storm out in front 7-4 after six.
The Tigers added a run on an RBI double in the top of the seventh, but did real damage with a one-out grand slam to take a 9-7 lead midway through the seventh.
In the bottom half of the inning, Riddle drew a one-out walk and was relieved by
Kamarie Wallace on the basepaths.
Wallace moved to third on a Watson double, and SE closed the gap with an RBI single by Thompson to score Wallace.
Watson and Thompson would move up on a McCullar flyout and
Mykaela Wallace would provide the heroics with a two-run single through the left side to score Watson and Thompson and win the game 10-9.
