Cody Nitson tossed a complete game and struck out seven to lead Southeastern to a 3-1 win in the series-opener against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Friday evening in Alva, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 19-19 overall and 12-13 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a 1 p.m. double-header in Alva, Okla., on Saturday.

Harrison Whitworth posted three hits to lead all batters, while
Austin Ferguson added a pair of hits.

Drew Bolin,
Colton Buckner,
Slayde Ortiz,
Luke Thomas, and
Bryce Deatherage each added a hit.

Nitson put together a marathon effort with 150 pitched to pick up his fourth win and his second complete game of the season. He scattered a run and eight hits over nine innings while striking out seven.

Ortiz put the Storm on the board in the top of the second inning with a two-run single to center, plating
Colton Buckner and
Davis Jenks who had reached on a hit by pitch and an error, respectively, to open the inning.

The Rangers responded with a run in the fourth on an RBI single to cut the SE lead in half.

Ferguson would tack on a run in the top of the seventh, plating
Drew Bolin on an RBI fielder's choice to take a 3-1 lead which would hold to be the final.
