ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –
Emily Cudd and
Katie McCullar partnered on an outstanding pitching outing in game one to pick up a 9-2 victory over Henderson State, but the Savage Storm were unable to maintain that momentum in game two, falling 8-2 to finish with a series split.

SE moves to 17-23 overall on the season and the split keeps the Storm at .500 in Great American Conference play at 15-15.

Cudd got the start in game one and allowed a run on four hits with two strikeouts in five innings of work to earn the win.
Â
McCullar came on to toss the final two innings and allowed a run on three hits with two K's as well to pick up her second save of the season.
Â
On offense,
Symphoni Shomo logged a pair of hits and scored twice, with
Destiny Riddle,
Elexis Watson,
Keeshia Thompson, McCUllar,
Mykaela Wallace,
Ivy Amador, and
Kamarie Wallace each adding a hit.
Â
Watson and Amador each collected three RBI to lead the game.

The Storm took the lead in the top of the third inning as
Kamarie Wallace swiped home on a double steal for the first run before a Watson double drove in Riddle for a 2-0 lead.

Brittany Chatellier would score a run on an error in the top of the fifth and a batter later Shomo would come home on a Watson RBI to stretch the lead to 4-0.

HSU got a run back in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 4-1.

In the top of the seventh, Watson would drive in a run and a second would score on an error to advance the lead to 6-1 before Amador connected on a bases-loaded single to right center which scored three and gave the storm a 9-1 edge.

The Reddies would get one back in the bottom half to make the final 9-2.

Hope Deanda connected on a trio of hits in the series finale to lead all hitters, while five others each picked up one.

Kamarie Wallace and Watson each drove in a run.

Cudd got the start and was tagged for three runs on four hits over 3.2 innings to earn the loss.

McCullar threw 2.1 innings in relief and allowed five runs, four of them earned, on six hits.

A Watson solo homer in the top of the first inning gave SE an early 1-0 lead, but HSU would score the next eight runs, three in the first, two, in the second, and three more in the fifth to open an 8-1 lead.

Kamarie Wallace would drive in a run in the top of the seventh, but the Storm would leave the bases loaded as the game ended in an 8-2 loss.
