SE Women Set for First Arkansas Road Swing

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern women's basketball aims to close out 2021 and open 2022 with victories when they make their first Arkansas road trip of the season to face Arkansas Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 in Russellville, Ark., before ringing in the new year with a Jan. 1 matchup versus Harding at 1 p.m. in Searcy, Ark.
 
The Savage Storm hit the road over the New Year holiday season with a 3-7 record overall and a 1-3 mark in Great American Conference play after back-to-back road losses at Oklahoma Baptist and Northwestern Oklahoma State.
 
SE is led by the duo of Briley Moon and Kamryn Cantwell who are averaging 14.5 and 14.2 ppg, respectively, while as a team the Storm is averaging 64.3 ppg, while the defense has been effective at slowing opponents to 64.1 ppg.
 
Moon is shooting 43.8 percent overall and 41.9 percent from beyond the arc while leading the team on the board with 6.6 rebounds per outing.
 
Cantwell is shooting 41.6 percent from the field overall and is handing out a team-leading 3.0 assists per game.
 
Chandler Kemp and Lauren Beason are each averaging over five points per game, with Kemp coming off a season-best 17 point outing while Beason has a pair of double-digit scoring outings.
 
ATU comes into Thursday's matchup at 5-2 overall on the season and 2-1 in GAC play after a road loss to Henderson State.
 
The Golden Suns feature a foursome of double-digit scorers, led by Kaley Shipman's 19.4 ppg while shooting 52.6 percent overall.
 
Sydnee Wynn leads the team on the board with 9.0 rebounds per game, while Jayana Sanders is dishing out a team-leading 2.4 assists per game.
 
The Bisons enter the weekend with a 6-3 overall record and a 2-2 mark in GAC play after dropping a home matchup versus HSU.
 
HU is paced by Sage Hawley who is averaging a double-double with 18.9 ppg and 10.8 rebounds per outing, while three others are posting double-digit scoring averages.
 
Hannah Collins is leading the team in assists with 3.0 per game.
