SE Set to Host GAC Championship Sunday Afternoon

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will be setting its sights on back-to-back Great American Conference Tournament Championships when it hosts Southern Nazarene in the finals on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
 
The Savage Storm come in as the No. 2 seed form the GAC's Western Division with a 13-7 record on the season, while the Crimson Storm come to town as the Western Division's No. 3 seed with an 11-7 record on the year.
 
Both teams reach the finals by way of upset wins over top seeds, with SE downing the Eastern Division's No. 1 seed Arkansas Tech on Friday while SNU downed Western Division No. 1 seed Southwestern Oklahoma State.
 
The teams have met three times on the season, with Southeastern owning a 3-0 record in those meetings, most recently gutting out a 59-58 victory on the road in Bethany in the regular season finale.
 
In SE's 68-58 win over Arkansas tech on Friday, Briley Moon led all scorers with 17 points in the contest hitting a pair of threes and connecting on 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Moon completed the double-double by hauling in 11 rebounds to lead the Storm.
 
Kamryn Cantwell was right behind with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field, and nearly turned in a double-double as well, finishing with nine rebounds.
 
Katie Branam added 12 points with a pair of threes, while Chandler Kemp chipped in 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
 
SE finished the game shooting 44.4 percent overall from the field, while holding the Golden Suns to just 37.3 percent, and 21.7 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Payton Jones and Alexus Jones would put up 22 and 20 points, respectively in SNU's 88-74 win over SWOSU on Friday in Weatherford, Okla.
 
Abby Niehues added 16 while Cassandra Awatt chipped in 13 in the effort.
 
Niehues pulled down eight rebounds to lead the team, with both Jones' and Awatt adding seven apiece.
 
Alexus Jones would also hand out a team-high six assists.
