BETHANY, Okla. – Southeastern jumped out big early and held on over the final two innings to take the rubber match against Southern Nazarene in their three-game series, 8-5, on Sunday afternoon in Bethany, Okla.

The Savage Storm take two out of three in the series and improve to 4-1 to start the season with its next action slated to be their home opener on March 9 when they host East Central for a 1 p.m. double-header at the Southeastern Softball Field.

Kady Fryrear and
Kyia Monahwee each collected a pair of hits on Sunday afternoon, while
Gracie Ore,
Cheyenne Mahy,
Kamarie Wallace,
Bailey Beard, and Karissa Marshal each had one hit.

Wallace and Marshall each homered, while both of Fryrear's hits went for doubles.
Â
Marshall's home run was a three-run shot to lead the Storm in RBI, while Mahy drove in two. Wallace and Monahwee each added an RBI.

Amberlyn Walsworth got the start and tossed 5.2 innings, allowing three runs, two of them earned, on five hits with three strikeouts to pick up her second win of the season.

Mahy came on to work 1.1 innings and allowed a pair of runs on three hits.

The Storm jumped out in front in the top of the first, taking advantage of back-=to-back hits to open the game, Mahy would triple home Fryrear and Ore for a 2-0 lead.

It reached 3-0 two batters later on a Monahweek single that plated Mahy.

SNU would get ne back in the third with a sac fly, but a pinch-hit three-run homer by Marshall would break the game open in the fourth. And when Fryrear doubled and later scored on a wild pitch in the same inning, the SE lead stretched to 7-1.

Wallace would then lead off the fifth inning with a solo homer to take an 8-1 lead.

The Crimson Storm would rally with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the seventh to make SE sweat late, but a groundout and a fly out to end the seventh would bring the game to an end with SE picking up an 8-5 victory.
