Briley Moon led all scorers with 30-points as she helped propel Southeastern to its first win of the season, taking down host Midwestern State at the Ashbrook Classic on Friday evening in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 1-2 on the season heading into a 1:30 p.m. matchup on Saturday afternoon versus Texas Woman's back in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Moon finished the contest hitting 9-of-14 from the floor, hitting three threes, while hitting 9-of-12 free throws to tally 30 points. She also chipped in five boards and a pair of steals.

Caitlin Kobiske followed up with 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting while turning in a team-best seven rebounds with a pair of blocked shots.

Grace Alverson and
Karyssa Jackson each just missed double-figures with nine points apiece, while
Aimee Alverson dished out a team-leading five assists.

SE shot 41.4 percent overall for the contest and were slightly better form long rage, going 6-of-14 for a 42.9 percent clip.

Meanwhile, the defense held the Mustangs to 36.1 percent shooting.

Kobiske put the Storm on the board first in the first quarter, but MSU would use a 12-4 run to take a six-point lead before a Moon three and a
Karyssa Jackson layup to close the quarter would cut the first quarter deficit to 12-11 at the break.

The first five minutes of the second quarter would feature five ties and five lead changes before a Kobiske layup would trigger a 10-3 run over the final five minutes, capped by a pair of Moon free throws to give Southeastern a 29-22 halftime lead.

SE would quickly push its lead out to nine points three different times early in the third quarter, but MSU would rally with a quick 6-0 run to narrow the Storm advantage to 36-33 with 5:40 to go in the third. Kobiske and Moon would answer with back-to-back buckets to preserve the SE lead and closed out the quarter with a 7-1 run to take a 49-39 lead at the end of three quarters.

Southeastern would take its largest lead of the game four minutes into the final quarter when a Moon three pushed the advantage to 60-47. The Storm would finish at the charity stripe, hitting 9-of-10 free throw opportunities over the final 1:33 to hold on for a 71-65 victory.
