Jett Sternberger dropped 24 points and Southeastern shot 53.8 percent, but it was not enough to lift the Savage Storm in a high-scoring 99-85 loss to No. 25 Fort Lewis on Friday evening in Alamosa, Colo.

The loss drops SE to 1-2 on the young season with a matchup versus the host Adams State at 7 p.m. (central time) on Nov. 26.

Sternberger hit 10-of-16 from the floor on his way to leading the Storm scoring effort while matching a team-high six rebounds and chipping in two assists.
Â
Brennen Burns was the only other Storm player to reach double-figures, finishing with 10 points and two assists as SE spread the scoring around.

Kyle Leslie,
Landon Condiff, and
Chandler Dickinson each posted nine points, while
Jameson Richardson was right behind with seven.

In all, 12 Storm players finished with points.

Dickinson also posted a team-high six boards, while
RJ Weeks handed out a team-best four assists.

Southeastern shot 53.8 percent overall from the floor, edging out FLC which hit 50.7 percent overall, but the primary difference came form beyond the arc where the Storm finished 5-of-16 overall while the Skyhawks hit 10-of-28 from long range.

SE found itself playing catch up most of the night as FLC reeled off a 15-4 run over the first three minutes of the contest.

The Storm would chip away over the next eight minutes, with a Condiff three and a free throw would close the gap to 26-24 with 9:04 to play in the half.

SE would stay within striking distance and used a 7-0 run later in the half capped by a Dickinson fastbreak bucket to finally knot the game at 33-33 with 6:25 to play in the first.

FLC would finish the half on a 22-10 run to take a 55-43 lead at the half.

SE would push the deficit to single digits early in the second half, closing the gap to 55-48 on a three from Leslie with 18:29 to play in the game.

The Skyhawks would push the lead back to double-figures by the 17 minute mark, and the Storm would see its deficit reach 21 points before a push over the final 1:31 would close the final score to 99-85.
