SE Cruises to Win over Arlington Baptist

DURANT, Okla. – Jett Sternberger led five players in double-figures as Southeastern cruised to a 94-68 win over Arlington Baptist on Tuesday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 4-3 overall on the year heading into a Saturday matchup with Oklahoma Baptist at 7:30 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.

Sternberger led all scorers with 19 on the night, hitting 4-of-8 from three-point range and 7-of-15 overall from the floor.

Kody Clouet was next in line with 13 with a trio of threes, while Aaron Jacob turned in his second-straight double-figure outing with a pair of threes on his way to 12 points off the bench.

Kyle Leslie followed up with 11 while RJ Weeks finished the night with 10.

Brennen Burns, Landon Condiff, and Robert Briley each finished the game with eight points.

Burns, Jacob, and Weeks each handed out four assists while Sternberger and Al Ervin dished out three apiece as the Storm piled up 23 as a team for the contest.

On the boards, Leslie just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, with Briley grabbing five, followed by three others with four.

SE forced 33 turnovers on the night, picking up 18 steals, led by four from Weeks while Burns added three.

The Patriots took an early lead and the teams would trade buckets in the early going, and by the 15:07 mark Southeastern held a 12-11 lead.

It would quickly balloon as the Storm reeled off a 9-0 run over the next minute and a half to take a 10-point lead.

The lead would hover in that vicinity, dipping to seven points with 8:07 to play in the first half when a Weeks three-point play would trigger a 17-0 run that that was part of a larger 29-11 push over the final eight minutes of the half to give the Storm a 63-38 lead at the break.

The second half was much more back-and-forth as the Storm shooting cooled to a 31.6 percent clip overall while hitting just three threes in the half.

SE would push out to its largest lead of the game at 91-58 on a Burns layup with 6:03 to play before settling on a final score of 94-68.
