TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Southeastern paid for five extra-base hits allowed to Northeastern as the Savage Storm dropped its midweek matchup against the Riverhawks 9-3 on Tuesday afternoon in Tahlequah, Okla.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 7-2 on the season heading into the Great American Conference opening series against Arkansas Tech Feb. 18-19 at Mike Metheny Field.

Reid Rice paced the offense with two hits, while
Cameron French,
Ollie Thompson, and
Dylan Herd each added one.
Â
French also supplied an RBI with his solo homer, while Herd added an RBI as well.
Â
Seven SE pitchers combined on the contest, with
Jordan Compton getting the start and a no decision after allowing a run on a hit with two strikeouts in 2.0 innings of work.

Hayden Alexander followed with 2.0 innings of his own and allowed two runs on two hits with three strikeouts.

KC Bryan followed with two-thirds of an inning, while
Dylan Turner tossed 1.2 innings and allowed a run on two hits with two K's but was saddled with the loss.

Coby Langford took the hill next was tagged for four runs on three hits without recording an out.

He was followed by
Jacob Davenport who struck out two and allowed one hit in two-thirds of an inning.

Kenneth Klier would close out the contest, allowing a run on three hits with a strikeout.

NSU opened scoring in the bottom of the first, cashing in on a one-out triple with a sac fly a batter later to take a 1-0 lead after one inning.

French would answer at the nest SE opportunity, leading off the second inning with his third home run of the season, knotting the game at 1-1.

The Riverhawks would use the long ball next, connecting on a two-run shot in the third inning to regain a 3-1 lead.

Southeastern answered in the top of the sixth with Herd doubling home Rice to close the gap to one run before
Ollie Thompson would come home on an error later in the inning to tie the game at 3-3.

NWU would answer again though, putting up five runs in the bottom of the seventh and adding another in the ninth, while the Storm were unable to mount a late-inning rally in a 9-3 loss.
