SE Splits Twinbill, Wins Series at HU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern picked up a 2-0 win in game one on Monday to secure a series victory over Harding, but dropped the series finale 4-0 in Searcy, Ark.
 
The Monday split moves the Savage Storm to 11-4 overall on the season and 4-2 in Great American Conference play heading into a Wednesday afternoon non-conference matchup with Central Oklahoma.
 
In the opener on Monday five pitchers combined on a shutout, beginning with Jordan Compton got the start and tossed 3.0 innings, scattering three hits.
 
Logan Teske came on in relief and tossed the next 3.0 innings to pick up the win, his second of the year, after allowing one hit and striking out two.
 
Kenneth Klier tossed an inning in relief, allowing two hits and striking out one.
 
Dylan Turner followed with an inning of work, allowing a hit while striking out two.
 
Jackson Sioson came on to close out the game, picking up his third save of the season and the second of the weekend after striking out one and facing the minimum three batters.
 
At the plate, Reid Rice collected a pair of hits, while Richard Ware, Cameron French, Brett Gonzalez, and Dylan Herd each added one.
 
Rice and French each had an RBI.
 
Rice would put the Storm on the board with an RBI single in the third inning, plating Herd.
 
That lead would hold until the top of the eighth when a French sac fly would bring home Blake McQuain to make the lead 2-0 which would hold up as the final score.
 
In the finale, McQuain, Gonzalez, and McDermott each collected a hit.
 
Cole Canuteson got the start and tossed 4.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with six strikeouts while absorbing the loss.
 
Hayden Alexander followed with two-thirds of an inning, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts.
 
Connor Priest also tossed two-0thirds of an inning, allowing a hit, while Jacob Davenport recorded one-third of an inning, facing two batters.
 
The game was a scoreless pitcher's duel through four and-a-half inning before the Bisons tacked on four runs in the bottom of the fifth which would hold up as the only scoring in the game.
