MELISSA, Texas – Southeastern combined for 30 hits and 12 home runs while piling up 38 total runs over two games in a sweep of East Central in the season opening doubleheader, taking game one 17-4 before running away with game two 21-2 on Sunday afternoon in Melissa, Texas.

The Savage Storm open the year 2-0 and will finish its series with the Tigers at noon on Monday afternoon in Durant, Okla., as the game has been moved from Ada, Okla., due to field conditions.

In the opener, the Storm jumped out to a 1-0 lead a Burroughs scored on a bases-loaded double-play, but a two-out solo homer in the bottom of the first left the game tied at 1-1.

Cameron French had the answer for the Tiger home run with a solo shot to open the second inning and move the Storm lead to 2-1.
Â
Burroughs would come through later in the inning with a three-run homer to center, extending the lead to 5-1.
Â
Two batters later it would hit 6-1 as
Richard Ware sent a ball over the left field wall.
Â
ECU would respond in the bottom of the second with a two-run homer to cut the lead to 6-3 after two innings.
Â
Brett Gonzalez would lead off the third with a walk and score a batter later on a French triple which was itself followed by an
Angel Ochoa RBI single to stretch the lead to 8-3.

After keeping ECU off the board, Gonzalez would return to the plate in the fourth inning where he connected on a two-run homer to open a 10-3 lead.

The Tigers opened the bottom half of the inning with a solo shot to chip at the deficit, making it 10-4 after four innings.

In the top of the fifth, Burroughs,
Matt Miles, and Ware connected on back-to-back-to-back home runs, extending the Storm advantage to 13-4.

It would hold at that margin until the top of the seventh when Gonzalez took a three-run homer out to left center followed a batter later by a solo French home run, making the SE lead 17-4 which would hold up as the final.

All nine starters in the batting order collected hits for Southeastern and 10 players finished the game for the Storm with hits.

Burroughs, Ware, French, and Gonzalez each collected two home runs apiece while Miles added one as well, pushing SE to within one of the long-standing team record for homers in a game of 10 set back in 1993.

French finished with a game-high three hits to lead the way, while Burroughs, Miles, Ware, Gonzalez, and Ochoa each added two hits.

Gonzalez posted a game-high five RBI, with Burroughs right behind with four, followed by French's three. Ware added a pair of RBI, with Miles and Ochoa driving in one each.

Jacob Potter got the start and took a no decision after tossing 3.0 innings and allowing three runs on five hits with one strikeout.

KC Bryan came on in relief and was tagged for a run on two hits in an inning of work.

Dylan Turner would toss the next 2.0 innings without allowing a run or a hit while striking out two to pick up the victory.

Coby Langford would toss the final inning, allowing a hit and striking out one.

Gonzalez would lead the way in the nightcap with three hits, while Ware and French added two hits apiece.

Six others would collect at least one hit.

Ware would add another home run, his third of the day, with

Bryce McDermott adding a homer each.

Ware would post a game-high four RBI, while Ochoa and McDermott would drive in three each.

Hayden Evans each drove in one.

Logan Teske got the start and tossed 3.0 innings in a no decision, allowing no runs on one hit with four strikeouts.

Connor Priest would come on in relief and pick up the win after tossing a hitless inning with a strikeout.

Jacob Davenport would follow with an inning of work, allowing a run on a hit with three strikeouts and three walks.

Kenneth Klier followed with a clean inning while striking out two, with
Jackson Sioson finishing the contest with an inning pitched, allowing a run on a hit with one strikeout.

SE got the scoring moving in the second inning of game two, first with an RBI single from Ochoa who would eventually come around and score himself on an error for a 2-0 lead.

Two batters later Ware would connect on a two-run single and score a batter later on a two-run
Seth Morrow homer which stretched the lead to 6-0 in the top of the second inning.

In the third inning, French would score on an error as Ochoa reached, and Ochoa would score a batter later on a McDermott two-run home run.

Ware would finish the inning out with another two-run home run, plating Miles and giving SE an 11-0 lead.

Ochoa would come home on another error in the fourth inning on a steal, bumping the advantage to 12-0.

The Storm would tack on six more runs in the top of the fifth, cashing in on three hits and a pair of bases-loaded walks, moving the SE lead to 18-0.

The Tigers would break through in the bottom of the fifth with a run.

An Ochoa sac fly in the top of the sixth inning would plate Gonzalez and the lead reached 19-1.
