MAGNOLIA, Ark. –
Blake McQuain homered and Southeastern held an 8-to-7 advantage in hits, but stranded 10 runners in a 6-2 loss to No. 8 Southern Arkansas on Friday night in the series opener in Magnolia, Ark.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 21-7 overall on the year and 11-5 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series set for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.

McQuain finished the contest 2-for-4 with a homer, collecting an RBI, while
Cameron French added a 2-for-2 effort.

Reid Rice,
Damon Burroughs, and
Brett Gonzalez each added a hit.

Dylan Turner got the start and was saddled with the loss after tossing 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out eight.

Logan Teske recorded one-third of an inning in relief and allowed two runs with three walks.

Kenneth Klier tossed an inning in and was tagged for two runs on one hit with two strikeouts, while
Dillion Bumgarner tossed the final inning and struck out the side.

McQuain put SE on the board first with a solo homer to right center in the top of the third inning.

SAU answered with a solo homer in the fifth and took a 2-1 lead with an RBI triple in the sixth.

The Muleriders then got a grand slam in the seventh to open a 6-1 lead.

Southeastern would add a run in the eighth on a passed ball, closing the gap to 6-2, but that is where the rally would end.
