SE Pours it On Late in 12-4 win at SNU

BETHANY, Okla. – Southeastern scored 11 runs over the final four innings to rally from a 4-1 deficit on its way to a 12-4 win over Southern Nazarene on Friday afternoon in Bethany, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 13-4 on the year and 5-2 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the series slated for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.

Blake McQuain led the offense with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate, while Richard Ware, Seth Morrow, and Brett Gonzalez each added two hits.

Reid Rice, Matt Miles, Angel Ochoa, Bryce McDermott, and Dylan Herd each added a hit as the Storm collected 14 as a team.

Rice would add a pair of RBI on his home run, while Morrow plated a pair of runners as well.

McQuain, Ware, Gonzalez, McDermott, Damon Burroughs, and Herd each added an RBI.

Jacob Potter got the start on the hill and tossed four innings, allowing four runs on five hits with four strikeouts in taking a no decision.

Hayden Alexander came on in relief and picked up the win after not allowing a hit over three innings while striking out five.

Kenneth Klier followed with an inning of work, striking out two of the three batters he faced, before Dylan Turner came on to finish the game with an inning, scattering two hits and striking out one.

Morrow put SE on the board with a sac fly in the top of the first inning, but back-to-back solo homers by SNU in the bottom of the first left SE in a 2-1 hole early.

The Crimson Storm added a run on an RBI triple in the second and another on a solo homer in the fourth to push is lead out to 4-1.

SE got the offense moving in the sixth inning, with Ware and Morrow posting back-to-back doubles, with Ware scoring on the latter, before Rice stepped to the plate and smashed a two-run homer to knot the game at 4-4.

McDermott would give SE the lead with an RBI single later in the inning and it was followed by a Herd sac fly and a McQuain RBI double to take a 7-4 lead.

Gonzalez would then double home Morrow in the seventh to push the lead to 8-4.

Ware would add two more runs with what looked to be a home run in the top of the eighth, but in circling first would pass the runner ahead of him, negating the home run and only bringing in the two run, extending the lead to 10-4.

Burroughs would drive in Miles in the top of the ninth and Gonzalez would end the scoring as he came home on a double steal hang up play to set the final score at 12-4.
