LUBBOCK, Texas – Southeastern had five players score in double figures but saw No. 7 West Texas A&M pull away in the second half as the Savage Storm fell in game two of the D2CCA Tipoff Classic by a score of 106-89 on Sunday afternoon in Lubbock, Texas.

The loss drops SE to 1-1 on the season heading into a Nov. 10-11 trip to St. Joseph, Mo. For the GAC/NSIC Challenge.

Brennen Burns was the leading scorer for the Storm for the second-straight game after going 7-of-13 from the field and 6-of-6 at the line to put up 21 points while handing out a game-high seven assists.

Kody Clouet was next in line with 17 points after hitting 6-of-10 from the field overall, including a 5-of-8 effort from beyond the arc while also leading the team on the boards with six rebounds.

Jett Sternberger put up 13 in the effort, while
Aaron Jacob added 11 points and
Kyle Leslie chipped in 10.

SE shot 50.8 percent from the field as a team and hit nine threes, but saw the Buffs shoot 56.8 percent overall and connect on 14 threes.

The teams traded buckets out of the gate, but saw WTAMU push its lead to double-digits, leading by as many as 15 points before the Storm used an 11-4 run to bring the deficit back to eight points with 5:06 to play in the half before going to the halftime break trailing 53-44.

The Buffs opened the second half on a 15-4 run to push its lead to 20 points.

That deficit would reach as many as 25 point over the second half, with Southeastern closing the final tally down to 17 points ay 106-89.
