DURANT, Okla. –
Jake Miller homered and five players posted multi-hit outings as Southeastern cruised to a 12-1 run-rule victory over Colorado Christian in the series opener on Friday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.
Â
The win evens the Savage Storm record at 2-2 heading into a Saturday doubleheader against the cougars with first pitch slated for noon.
Â
Miller collected the first home run of the season as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the sixth inning, sending a three-run shot over the left field wall. His three RBI would lead all hitters in the game.
Â
Cameron Cromer,
Seth Morrow,
Cameron French,
Cory Bonstrom, and
Joseph Ramirez each collected two hits in the game as the Storm combined for 14 in the contest.
Â
Cromer, Morrow, Ramirez, and
Dylan Herd each added two RBI, while Bonstrom scored a game-high three runs.
Â
SE also tacked on five stolen bases, with two each from Herd and
Damon Burroughs.
Â
Cole Canuteson got the start and logged his second win of the year after tossing 6.0 innings and scattering a run on seven hits with eight strikeouts.
Â
Charlie Deeds would come on in relief in the top of the seventh and retire the side on three-straight flyouts.
Â
A solo homer in the top of the second inning would stake CCU to the early 1-0 lead, but SE would answer in the bottom half as a Ramirez would tie the game by doubling home French before Herd gave the Storm the lead with an RBI single that plated Bonstrom for the 2-1 advantage.
Â
A Morrow RBI single in the third and a Cromer RBI single in the fourth would extend the edge to 4-1 through four innings.
Â
Southeastern added two more in the fifth on a Herd sac fly and a Cromer RBI single to push the lead out to 6-1.
Â
In the sixth, Morrow would drive in Burroughs followed by a Ramirez single that was misplayed in right field, allowing two more runs to come in for a 9-1 lead.
Â
Two batters later Miller would collect his pinch-hit home run, extending the lead to 12-1 and after Deeds retired the side in the top of the seventh it would trigger the run-rule for the 12-1 win.
