DURANT, Okla.  – Southeastern closed out its series-opening doubleheader with Oklahoma Baptist by picking up a 5-3 win, bouncing back from a series-opening 7-0 loss to start the day on Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 12-12 overall on the year and 6-2 in Great American Conference play with the rubber-match of the series set for 1 p.m. on March 12.

In the nightcap,
Cheyenne Mahy tossed a complete game and earned her fourth win of the season after allowing three runs on six hits with three strikeouts.

Gracie Ore picked up a pair of hits in game two, while
Kamryn Rackley,
Kady Fryrear,
Marilyn Alvarado, and
Jaleigh Durst each added a hit.

Alvarado would drive in two runs, with Fryrear,
Alexis Massie, and Durst pushing home an RBI each.
Â
After OBU took a 1-0 lead in the first, the Storm would answer in the second with a Durst bases-loaded walk to knot the game at 1-1.

The Bison would again take the lead with a two-run double in the top of the third.

Southeastern had an answer in the bottom half, first on a Fryrear RBI single before Massie tied the game with an RBI groundout.

Massie would bring home the go-ahead run on a sac bunt attempt that scored Fryrear.

Alvarado would bring home another run in the fourth to fashion the 5-3 final score.

In game one,
Amberlyn Walsworth would be saddled with the loss after allowing seven runs, five earned, on 10 hits with two strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

Reese Taylor would toss 2.2 scoreless innings in relief and allowed one hit with two K's.

Mahy and
Sabetha Sands would each collect two hits, while Fryrear and
Bailey Beard had one each.

OBU scored two in the third and three more in the fifth before a two-run homer in the fifth would set the finals core at 7-0.
