Storm Split Doubleheader vs. SWOSU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern pounded out 19 hits on its way to a 15-10 win in the series opener over Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday, but saw a 6-0 lead disappear as the Bulldogs swiped game two of the series 8-6 to split a doubleheader at Mike Metheny Field.
 
The split moves the Savage Storm to 9-9 on the season and 3-5 in Great American Conference play with the rubber match of the series slated fir noon on Sunday afternoon.
 
Cameron Cromer posted a 4-for-6 effort at the plate to lead all hitters, while Damon Burroughs and Matt Miles each posted three hits.
 
Reid Rice, Seth Morrow, and Dylan Herd each added two hits, while Cameron French, Jake Miller, and Joseph Ramirez each added one.
 
Morrow and French each homered in the game, while Cromer and Herd each doubled twice, with Rice, Burroughs, and Miles each had one double.
 
Morrow and Burroughs posted three RBI each, while French, Miller, and Ramirez each drove in two.
 
Miles and Herd added an RBI apiece.
 
Cole Canuteson got the start and picked up the win after tossing five innings and allowing five runs, two earned on 10 hits with one strikeout.
 
Charlie Deeds tossed 2.1 in relief and was tagged for four runs on five hits before Jakob Berger stepped in and tossed two-thirds of an inning, allowing a run on two hits with two strikeouts.
 
Brody Logsdon would come on to toss the final inning and did so without allowing a run.
 
Burroughs would double home a pair of runs and French would connect on a two-run homer in the first to open up a 4-0 lead.
 
SWOSU would ick up three runs in the third to nearly erase the advantage, but a Morrow Rbi single and a two-run Ramirez single in the bottom of the third would push the lead back to 7-3.
 
A Bulldog homer would close the gap to 7-4 in the fourth, but in the bottom half of the inning Burroghs would drive in a run on a single and Morrow would connect on a three-run homer down the rightfield line to take a 10-4 lead.
 
SWOSU would pick up a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to close the gap to 10-6 before Southeastern added to its lead in the bottom of the sixth with a Miller two-run single, a Miles RBI, a Bulldog wild pitch and a Herd RBU double which extended the lead to 15-6.
 
SWOSU would pick up three runs in the eighth to fashion the 15-10 final score.
 
In game two, Sam Creed, Cromer, Rice, Burroughs, Morrow, and Miller each logged hits, while Miller and Burroughs drove in two runs each and Rice added an RBI.
 
Dylan Turner got the start and took a no decision after tossing 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three.
 
Cameron Hauch would come on in relief and toss one-third of an inning and was tagged for four runs on four hits.
 
Logsdon would suffer the loss after tossing two-thirds of an inning and allowing three runs on two hits.
 
Jared Barta would come on to toss the final inning and allowed an unearned run on two hits.
 
Miller would put SE on the board in the fourth with a two-run single.
 
The Storm would add to its lead in the fifth, first with a Rice RBI single, followed by a two-run single from Burroughs and Burroughs coming around to score a batter later on SWOSU error for a 6-0 lead after five innings.
 
The Bulldogs would add a solo homer and a three-run home run in the sixth to close the gap before a two-run homer in the seventh tied the game at 6-6.
 
SWOSU would close the top of the seventh with an RBI single and an unearned run on a thriowing error to take an 8-6 lead which would hold as the final.
