Joseph Ramirez singled home
Dylan Herd with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn a 4-3 walk off win in the series opener over Southern Nazarene on Friday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.

The win evens the Savage Storm at 18-18 on the season while improving to 10-12 in Great American Conference play.

Jake Miller led the way with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate, while
Reid Rice added a pair of hits.

Ramirez,
Damon Burroughs,
Seth Morrow,
Cameron French, and Herd each added a hit.

Ramirez and Burroughs posted an RBI apiece.
Â
Cole Canuteson got the start and tossed 6.1 innings in a no decision, allowing three runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts.

Coby Langford tossed 2.0 innings in relief and allowed no runs on two this with two strikeouts.

Jordan Compton would come on in relief and strikeout both batters he faced and pick up the win, his first of the year.

SNU would strike first with a three-run homer in the top of the first inning.

SE would get on the board in the second inning as Miller stole home on the double steal, but a pair of errant throws by the Crimson Storm would allow
Cameron Cromer to come around and score to close the gap to 3-2.

In the sixth, Rice would lead off with a double and come home a batter later on a Burroughs RBI single to knot the game at 3-3. Â

The score would remain tied until the bottom of the ninth when Herd would connect on a one-out triple to left center.

He would come home two batters later when Ramirez would drop a single in front of the SNU center fielder to bring home the game-winning run in a 4-3 win.
