MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southeastern was unable to carry over the momentum from its game one won on Friday as the Savage Storm dropped the final two games of a best-of-three series versus No. 18 Southern Arkansas Saturday afternoon, first falling 14-7 before dropping the finale 12-2 in Magnolia, Ark.

The losses drop SE to 28-25 to finish the 2023 season.

Dillon Bumgarner would finish the contest with an inning pitched, allowing a run on a hit.

Rice would put the Storm on the board with an RBI single to plate Sam Creed in the first inning of game one on Saturday.

That lead stretched to 3-0on a two-run double by Miller in the top of the third.

Bonstrom would single and an error would allow Creed to score and a batter later Burroughs would single home Bonstrom to push the SE lead to 5-0.

Unfortunately, that lead would disappear in the bottom half of the fourth as SAU put up eight runs on six hits with a Storm error, taking an 8-5 lead.

An RBI single and a three-run homer for the Muleriders in the fifth would push their advantage to 12-5.

In the seventh, SE chipped away with an RBI double by Miles and a sac fly from McQuain, cutting the deficit to 12-7.

SAU would add a run in the seventh and another in the eighth to make the final score 14-7.

In the finale, Creed collected three hits, while Miller and Miles picked up two each.

McQuain and Bonstrom added a hit apiece.

Creed and Miles each had an RBI.

Connor Priest got the start and tossed only two-thirds of an inning in the loss after allowing five runs on three hits.

Michael Barta followed with 3.1 innings of work and allowed three runs on five hits.

Brody Logsdon tossed two-thirds of an inning and was tagged for four runs on no hits before Patrick Norman came in to finish the contest with 1.1 innings pitched and no runs on one hit.

SAU jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on a trip of Rbi singles in the bottom of the first inning.

Miles would connect on a solo homer in the top of the third to get the Storm on the board trailing 5-1.

SAU would stretch that to 8-1 with three runs in the third.

Southeastern would pick up another run in the top of the fifth when Creed doubled home Bonstrom to close the gap to 8-2.

That was as close as it would get though as the Muleriders scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 12-2 which would hold up as the final.
