Storm Head to Shawnee to Face Oklahoma Baptist Thursday

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State hits the road to take on Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Noble Complex.
 
STORM WATCH
Southeastern (3-5, 1-1) began Great American Conference play last week, splitting its first round of conference games. Henderson State got the better of the Savage Storm in the first game of the week 74-71, but the blue and gold would return to winning ways, defeating Ouachita Baptist 82-80 on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Daniel Halldorsson and DJ Dill highlighted the scoring for Southeastern across the two games, with Halldorsson recording 20 points against Henderson and Dill registering 25 versus Ouachita. The pair of freshmen pace the team in scoring, as Dill averages 16.0 points per game, and Halldorsson sees 13.6 a contest.
 
Along with scoring, Halldorsson helps set the tone on offense, as he leads the conference in assists and ranks fourth in Division II with 69 assists. The Grafarvogur, Iceland native, combined for 11 assists in his last two games and is averaging 8.6 per game. Robert Briley has provided a strong presence at the glass for the Storm this season with 7.6 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth best in the conference. The Wright City, Okla. native totaled 16 rebounds across the two games last week and added 18 points, including a high of 14 in the win versus Ouachita. 
 
Through two conference games, Southeastern is tied for second in scoring in the GAC with 85.1 points per game. The Storm's scoring success starts at the three-point line. SE paces the league with a 41.4 percent shooting mark from deep and averages the second most triples per game with 10.3. Landon Condiff leads the three-point shooting efforts for the Storm with 22 triples on 35.5 percent shooting.
 
The last time Southeastern and Oklahoma Baptist met in the Noble Complex, they went to overtime, and the Bison would grab a late 87-84 win. The Storm are 5-5 in the last ten meetings with Oklahoma Baptist, going into the 168th contest, and SE leads the all-time series 107-60. The two sides split last season's games, with each team winning its respective home game, as Southeastern defeated the Bison 92-87 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena. 
 
PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA BAPTIST
Oklahoma Baptist is 2-0 to start conference play with wins over Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas. The Bison sit 5-3 overall, adding non-conference wins over Minnesota Crookston, Arlington Baptist and Newman. Thursday's game will mark the third straight home contest for OBU, who are 3-0 in the Noble Complex to start the season.
 
The Bison have four players averaging double-digit points per game, which sees the team rank seventh in scoring with 78.1 points per game. Terry Coner Jr. paces the side in scoring with 14.4 points per contest and is the team's leader in assists with 21. The sophomore guard tallied 20 points versus UAM and SAU and chipped in seven assists and three steals.
 
Ethan Scott is the Bison's top knockdown shooter with a league-best 30 triples on the year and is shooting the three-ball at a blistering mark at 56.6 percent clip, which ranks fifth in Division II. In his last three games, the sophomore guard has shot 83.3 percent from deep with ten triples to help to three straight double-digit point games. Scott's three-point shooting efforts see him join Coner Jr. in double-figure scoring with 13.0 points per game.
