SE Splits Day Two in Bentonville

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern opened play on Saturday at the Alvy Early Memorial Invitational with a commanding 12-1 run-rule victory over Drury before dropping the weekend finale against Central Missouri 3-2 in Bentonville, Ark.
 
The split moves the Savage Storm to 3-5 on the season heading into its final tournament weekend at the Raising Cane's Invitational Feb. 16-18 in Edmond, Okla.
 
Southeastern piled up 15 hits in the win over Drury, with Kamryn Rackley, Sage Harlow, and India McMurray each putting together three hits.
 
Illiana Olivares and Gracie Ore followed with two hits, with Abby Beck and Sammi Dutton each adding one.
 
McMurray would drive in five runs in the game to lead the way, with Beck adding three RBI and Harlow driving in two.
 
Makayla Geeslin and Dutton would drive in one each.
 
Alyson Malone would get the start and toss a complete game in the victory, allowing a run on five hits with four strikeouts in five innings.
 
DU got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, with SE answering with a two-run double by Beck and a McMurray RBI double to take a 3-1 lead.
 
Harlow and Beck would drive in a run each in the second to extend the lead before McMurray would connect on a grand slam, taking a 9-1 lead.
 
Geeslin would drive in a run in the fourth, with Dutton and Harlow each adding Rbis ingles to push the lead to 12-1 which would hold up as the final.
 
In game two, Dutton would log a pair of hits, with Harlow, McMurray, Emily Simmons, Sabetha Sands, and Channing Sarver adding a hit apiece.
 
Simmons and Sands would each drive in a run.
 
Simmons would toss a complete game in the loss, allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
 
UCM would plate all their runs in the second inning with a pair of RBI singles, taking a 3-0 lead.
 
A Simmons double would cut into that deficit in the bottom of the second and a Sand solo homer in the fourth would move the score to 3-2 which would end up as the final.
