SE Tripped Up in Final Action of the GAC/NSIC Conference Challenge

DURANT, Okla. – In the final game of the GAC/NSIC Conference Challenge, Southeastern falls to Minnesota-Duluth 84-61.
 
Chandler Dickinson led the Savage Storm with 14 points on 5-13 shooting from the field and was one of four players to reach double-figure points. Ethan Wilkerson chipped 14 for the blue and gold, while Tyler Long and Santiago Camacho Gomez each had 11. SE ended the game shooting 43.6 percent from the field and went 5-23 from the three-point line.
 
Southeastern (0-2) heads to St. Mary's for its next round of action on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 5:30 p.m.
 
A slow start from the blue and gold allowed Minnesota-Duluth to jump ahead 10-2 at the first media break at the 15:26 mark. Out of the break, Wilkerson knocked down two triples, and another would drop for the Storm from Jamal Drewery to trim the visitors' lead to 18-13. The Bulldogs replied with an 8-0 run over the next minutes to carry a 28-15 edge into the third media timeout.
 
Long provided the next five points for Southeastern, connecting on a three-pointer and a layup, and moments later, Dickinson made a triple, down 30-23. Dickinson found the basket again on a layup before Gomez knocked down a jumper before the halftime buzzer, trailing UMD 36-39.
 
Wilkerson led the blue and gold scores in the first half with eight points, while the team shot 40.0 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Early three-pointers for Minnesota-Duluth sparked a fast start to the second half for the visitors, as their lead grew to 44-29. The two sides matched each other scoring over the next three minutes, with eight of the team's 12 points coming from Long and Dickinson, down 54-41. The Bulldogs' pace picked up again, building a 6-0 run to stretch their lead, and later took a 67-49 edge.
 
Points continued to fall for UMD over the next four minutes, with its lead growing to 79-53. The Bulldogs remained in control for the final minutes of the game for an 84-61 win.
