DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern knocked down 17 threes and had five players in double figures as it opened the home portion of its 2025-26 schedule in style with a 94-64 runaway win over in-state rival Cameron on Thursday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Â
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 1-2 on the year heading into a 1 p.m. matchup on Saturday afternoon versus Arkansas-Fort Smith back in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Â
The 17 threes drained was the most since the Storm connected on 17 in a Feb. 6, 2020, contest versus Oklahoma Baptist, and nearly as impressive was that 11 different players connected on threes, with
Abbie Barr and
Katie Allen each hitting a game-high three.
Â
SE passed 90 points for the first time since posting four 90-plus point outings in the 2019-20 season, the last coming in a 94-78 win over Henderson State on Feb. 27, 2021.
Â
Tori Kilburn led all scorers with 18 points on the night, hitting 6-of-11 overall and 5-of-5 at the free throw line.
Â
She also matched a team-high in rebounds with seven while also matching the game-high in assists with six in addition to adding a pair of blocked shots.
Â
Allen followed with 13 points off the bench, nine of them on threes as she hit 3-of-8 from long range.
Â
Kenzli Warden and Barr followed with 11 points apiece, while
Mackenzie Espinosa finished with 10 points.
Â
Warden and Kilburn each finished with seven boards, while
Halli Hyatt added six.
Â
Hyatt and Kilburn each dished out a game-high six assists, with Warden, Barr, and
Connie Hughes dishing three each as the Storm finished with 26 as a team.
Â
Kilburn was 3-of-4 in the first quarter, and the Storm drained seven threes to take a 33-14 lead after the first 10 minutes.
Â
The teams traded turnovers out of the gate to open play and the Aggies scored the game's first points, but
Halli Hyatt drained her first three-point attempt to get the SE scoring started and the squad would go 5-for-5 from three over the next 3:46 as Southeastern pushed its lead to 21-5by the 4:43 mark of the first quarter.
Â
Cu closed the gap to 14 points before the Storm got a three and a jumper from
Breanna Lindert to end the quarter with a 33-14 lead.
Â
After giving up points to open the second quarter, the Storm again reeled off a run, this time a 10-4 spurt that pushed the lead to 43-20 by the 4:33 mark of the frame.
Â
Cameron followed with a layup, but
Mackenzie Espinosa immediately answered with a three and SE closed the first half on a 10-1 run to mount a 53-23 lead at the halftime break.
Â
SE's lead cracked 30 points in the third quarter on a Kilburn bucket with 5:46 to play in the period.
Â
A Late push in the frame would see that advantage pushed to as many as 42 points following a Warden bucket in the final minute before SE took an 83-44 lead into the fourth quarter.
Â
The lead ballooned to its largest point on a
Chloe Eversole three with 5:26 to play, making the lead 94-48.
Â
The Aggies scored the final 16 points of the game to cut the final margin to 94-64.
