SE Remains on the Road at Texas A&M-Kingsville

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern continues its road trip in the Lone Star State on Saturday, as it makes the trip to Kingsville on November 22. The opening tip between the Savage Storm and Javelinas is 2 p.m.
 
SERIES NOTES
  • SE and TAMKU are set to meet for the seventh time on Saturday, with the Storm trailing 4-2 in the all-time series.
  • Last season, the Storm fell to the Javelinas at home in a close battle, as Texas A&M-Kingsville edged out SE 77-75. However, the last time the blue and gold went to Kingsville, they came out on top 64-59 back in 2016-17.  
 
STORM REPORT
Southeastern opened its six-game stretch away from Bloomer Sullivan Arena at St. Mary's on Thursday night. After a slow start in the first half, SE was quick out of the gates in the second, but the Rattler began to pull away in the final stretch to win 74-64. The loss for the Storm drops them to 0-3 on the year.
 
Ethan Scott made his debut for Southeastern on Thursday and led the side with 12 points on 4-8, shooting with all four baskets coming from beyond the arc. The Oklahoma Baptist transfer came into the year with 134 three-pointers in three seasons with the Bison. Leading the Storm through the early stages from the three-point line is Santiago Camacho Gomez with six triples after finishing with two against StMU.
 
Gomez posted his third consecutive double-digit point game versus St. Mary's, tying for a team-high 12 points, and is averaging 12.7 per game. The Guadalajara, Mexico native is shooting 50.0 percent (13-26) from the field, while the team is converting 42.8 percent from the floor through three games.
 
At the glass, Ethan Wilkerson paces the side with 5.7 rebounds per game with a team-best six offensive boards and 11 defensive rebounds. Wilkerson pulled down six rebounds in the defeat to the Rattlers to lead the team and added 11 points to his totals. In addition to his efforts at the glass, the sophomore is second in scoring with 12.3 points per game on 47.1 percent shooting from the field.

SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
Texas A&M- Kingsville enters Saturday's non-conference game 2-1 following a 92-61 win against Metropolitan State- Denver. TAMKU opened the season with a 76-75 win over South Dakota Mines, with whom they split a two-game series, falling 79-66 in the second contest.
 
The Javelinas are led by freshman Jadon Sautter with 12.3 points per game on 53.6 percent shooting from the floor. Sautter was one of five players to reach double-figure points in TAMKU's last game, while David Oriaku, who is second on the team in scoring (10.3 ppg), had 15. In addition, Oriaku also leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game, having pulled down eight offensive boards and ten defensive rebounds.
