Storm Outlasted in Double Overtime Game to Cameron 111-109

BETHANY, Okla. – The final game of the Conference Challenge needed two extra periods to decide a winner, as Southeastern came up short to Cameron 111-109 in double overtime.

SE (1-5, 0-0 GAC) saw seven players score double-figure points and finished shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 34.1 percent from the three-point line with 15 triples. Cameron just edged out the Storm at the glass with 39 rebounds to SE's 34, and the Aggies held the advantage at the foul line with 23 makes.

Deondre Dunn tallied his second 20-point game this season, pacing the team with 20 points on 7-10 shooting. Chandler Dickinson followed with 17 points and tied for a team-high seven rebounds with Santiago Camacho Gomez, who chipped in 16 points. Ethan Scott knocked down five triples for 15 points, while Nnachebe Uwakwe recorded 14. Rounding out the scoring, Ethan Wilkerson saw 11, and Jamal Drewery tallied 10 points and added 10 assists for a double-double.

Southeastern (1-5, 0-0 GAC) turns its attention to Great American Conference action with a road trip on December 4 to Arkadelphia for a meeting with Henderson State at 7:30 p.m.

Cameron jumped out in front first with a 7-2 lead to begin the opening half, but two quick three-pointers in succession from Saxon McWilliam and Augusto Toledo tied it 12-12. Baskets from deep began to fall for both sides from there, with Dunn knocking down two, trailing 20-18 to the Aggies. Dunn continued to have the hot hand, connecting from beyond the arc two more times to give SE a 29-26 advantage.

However, Cameron replied with a 9-0 run to flip the edge back in its favor, 35-29, and a three-pointer by Scott would end a three-and-a-half-minute scoring drought for the blue and gold, 35-32. The Aggies knocked down two more triples, but the SE closed out the final minute of the half on an 8-3 run, capped off by a trey from Drewery to trail 41-40 at the break.

Southeastern opened the second half with two early baskets to grab the lead again, before a 5-0 flurry by Cameron switched the advantage back in its favor, 49-46. A pair of threes kept the Aggies ahead, though six consecutive points for the blue gold tied the game 55-all with 14:44 to play. From there, Cameron controlled the next four minutes with its lead growing to double-digits, 69-59.

SE closed the gap through Uwakwe, who made back-to-back baskets to trim the gap to six, and a three-pointer by Scott kept the blue and gold within striking distance. Southeastern eventually took the lead behind an 8-0 run, but the Aggies were quick to answer as they grabbed the lead back moments later, 84-80. A basket by Gomez made it a one-score game, and he would combine with Scott for back-to-back three-pointers to carry an 88-86 edge into the final minute of play. However, late scores for Cameron would send it to overtime, as the two sides were tied 90-all at the final buzzer.

The Storm struck first in the overtime period with a basket from Dickinson, who later connected from deep, as SE trailed 97-96. The Aggies' lead grew to 100-96 before Scott and Dickinson each connected from beyond the arc to send the game to a second overtime period, locked at 102-102.

SE and Cameron traded baskets to start the final five minutes, and Southeastern soon took a 109-108 lead behind four points from Wilkerson, including a three-pointer. However, in the final seconds of the game, the Aggies knocked down a trey with eight seconds remaining to win 111-109.
