ALVA, Okla. –
Caitlin Kobiske and
Kenzli Warden combined for 40 points but a frustrating three quarters of shooting left the Savage Storm in a hole they could not climb out of in a 76-68 road loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State to end the regular season in Alva, Okla.
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 18-10 on the year overall and 15-7 in league play, earning SE th No. 4 seed in next weeks Great American Cofnerence Tournament.
Kobiske finished the contest 6-of-11 and a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc with a game-high 21 points.
Warden with next in line with 19, hitting a pair pf threes and going 7-of-8 at the free throw line.
Holli Lindley finished with eight, as did
Abbie Barr, while
Ashton Hackler chipped in seven in the effort.
Warden's six reboudns led the way, while Kobiske pulled down five.
Stevie Stinchcomb dished out a team-high six assists.
NWOSU jumped in front 6-2 early but the Storm answered with a 7-0 run capped by a pair of Hackler free throws to take a 9-6 lead with 3:48 to go in the first quarter.
SE twice pushed its lead to four points before taking a 14-12 lead into the second quarter.
The Rangers kpened the second quarter on a 10-0 run to take the lead at 22-14, but the Storm answered with a 7-0 run capped by a Kobiske three to close the gap to 22-21.
NWOSU followed with a 10-4 run to end the half and the Storm trailed at the break 32-25.
The Rangers followed with the first eight points of the third quarter, taking a 40-25 lead with 6:38 to play in the frame.
The teams were even over the remainder of the third as NWOSU took a 55-38 lead into the final quarter.
SE trailed by as many as 18 eary in the fourth, but a 22-8 Storm run chiseled the deficit down to eight points with 54 seconds to play, but that was as close as the Storm would get as the final stayed at 76-68.
