Southeastern Wins Pitching Duel Over No. 13 Harding 1-0

SEARCY, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State wins a low-scoring battle at No. 13 Harding in the series finale 1-0, behind a complete game shutout from Trinity Oden.

Oden pitched all 7.0 frames and allowed zero runs and zero walks while allowing five hits for the game. The freshman struck out five batters on her way to a fourth win in the circle this season, moving to 4-4.

SE was limited to one hit for the game, but it would be the most important, as Kennedy Morgan's single up the middle turned into the game-winning run. Laci Larsen worked a pair of walks in the fourth and seventh frames, and Oden would also earn a walk in the third.

Starting pitcher Oden was locked in early, providing four scoreless frames from the circle. Oden allowed just two hits in the first four innings and only faced one batter over the minimum. Harding was equally as good in the circle, but Southeastern soon found a breakthrough at the top of the third.

The Storm led off the inning with a single up the middle by Morgan, and Oden worked a walk on the next at-bat to put two on with no outs. A sacrifice bunt moved the runners up a base, and a RBI ground out by Sabetha Sands brought in the first score of the game as Southeastern took a 1-0 advantage.

Oden continued to keep the Lady Bisons in check at the plate through the fourth inning and worked out of a jam in the sixth, stranding two HU baserunners to keep Southeastern in front 1-0. The blue and gold's next three base runners came on two walks, an error, as SE was held to just the one hit coming in the third frame across the seven innings. Oden retired the side in order in the bottom half of the seventh to secure the win for the Savage Storm 1-0.

Southeastern (15-17, 8-9 GAC) returns home for a midweek battle with No. 10 Central Oklahoma on Tuesday, Mar. 25 at 1 p.m. from the Southeastern Softball Field.
