Southeastern Finishes the Season in the GAC Tournament First Round

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern finishes up its season in the first round of the GAC Tournament, falling to No. 23 Harding 9-1. The Savage Storm ended the year with a 26-27 overall record and a 17-16 conference mark.

Kennedy Morgan led the lineup with two of the team's seven hits, while Laci Larsen and Iliana Olivares each recorded doubles. Olivares double marked the 20th of the year for the Second Team All-GAC recipient, tying the single-season record set in 2009. Trinity Oden started the game in the circle and went 4.2 innings before Emily Simmons checked in for the final 1.0 frames of work.

SE looked to open the scoring in the top of the first with two runners on base, but the breakthrough hit would not come before the final out. In the bottom half, Harding used two hits to bring in its leadoff hitter to take an early 1-0 lead, which soon grew to 3-0 after scoring a run in the third and fourth.

The blue and gold threatened for a second time in the game during the top of the fourth as a double by Larsen and a hit from India McMurray helped load the bases with two outs. However, like the first inning, Harding navigated through the traffic created by the Storm to keep its lead.

Southeastern eventually found a score in the top of the fifth to cut the gap to 3-1. A leadoff single from Sabetha Sands, followed by a double from Olivares two batters later, had runners on second and third with one out. Emily Simmons was the fourth batter sent to the plate during the frame and provided a sacrifice hit to left field to bring home Sands.

From there, the Lady Bisons took control in the fourth with a four-run frame to extend their lead to 7-1 and two more in the fifth, 9-1.
