BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – On the first day of play at the Central Regional Fall Preview, the Southeastern women's golf team is ninth with a score of 21-over 309.
The Savage Storm sits three strokes behind Harding, who is tied for seventh and holds a one-stroke advantage over GAC foe Arkansas Tech, who is in tenth place. Central Missouri leads the 18-team field with an 18-hole score of 4-over 292, while Henderson State (4
th) and Oklahoma Baptist (5
th) round out the top five at 13-over 301 and 14-over 302, respectively.
Carley Button and
Karen Kim matched each other's score in the opening round, both shooting 3-over 75 and tied for 18
th individually. Button saw her best play on the back nine, where she shot 2-under with three birdies, and Kim would tally four birdies across the 18 holes.
In her first collegiate round of golf,
Kaeli Drake was off to a fast start with a birdie and four pars on her first five holes, which helped her to finish the round 5-over 77. Also making their debut for the Storm,
Addison Oestreicher turned in a 10-over 82 after seeing her best play on the back nine, where she shot 3-over, while
Meredith Reid shot 13-over 85.
Southeastern will look to finish strong in the final round of play tomorrow from the Par 72 Adams Pointe Golf Course.
