TULSA, Okla. – Southeastern is eighth at the NSU Women's Golf Classic after one round of play at the Par 71 Page Belcher Golf Course with a score of 28-over 312.
At the top of the leaderboard, there is a three-way tie between Harding, Arkansas-Fort Smith, and Rogers State, who shot 15-over 299. Southwestern Oklahoma State is fourth with a round-one score of 18-over 302, while Oklahoma Baptist rounds out the top five at 19-over 303.
A strong start to the day by freshman
Addison Oestreicher began with an even-par front nine, and she would follow with a 1-over-par back nine to complete the opening round with a 1-over 72. The Wylie, Texas, native had two birdies in the first round, with the first coming on hole four, and she would sink five straight pars in between her next birdie on the Par-Five Hole Ten.
Karen Kim followed with the next lowest score of the round, shooting 5-over 76 with a pair of birdies. The junior bounced back after a slow start, turning in the best score on the back nine by a Storm player, shooting 1-under Par with two birdies and six pars.
Carley Button followed just behind Kim, as the junior closed out the opening round 7-over 78 after seeing a 4-over par front and back nine. Rounding out the Storm lineup, both
Meredith Reid and
Kaeli Drake turned in a score of 15-over 86 for the day at the Par 71 course.
