Storm Tripped Up in Monday Road Matchup

ALVA, Okla. – Southeastern suffered its first loss in a month, 74-64, on the road against Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla., in a game that was rescheduled due to the icy weather that hit the region at the end of January.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 12-12 overall and 9-9 in Great American Conference play heading into a return home to take on Arkansas Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

Tori Kilburn paces the Storm with 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting with a trio of threes while adding three assists and four rebounds.

Akiera Hawk joined Kilburn in double-figures with 13, also knocking down a trio of threes, while Katie Allen turned in nine with three more three pointers of her own.

Kenzli Warden paced the team on the boards with seven, while Stevie Stinchcomb handed out a game-high seven assists.

The teams traded buckets early, with SE eventually taking a 10-6 lead on a Kilburn three, but the Rangers answered with an 18-8 run, taking a six-point lead before a pair of Kilburn buckets closed the gap to 26-23 at the first quarter break.

Kilburn scored the first points of the second quarter to close the gap to one point, but NWOSU followed with a 14-0 run, taking a 40-25 lead by the 5:09 mark of the period.

That deficit peaked at 18 points before closing the gap to 47-31 at the half.

Southeastern chipped away at the Ranger lead, cutting it to single digits on an Allen threw with 3:33 to play in the quarter, but the deficit sat at 62-51 heading to the fourth quarter.

The Storm was unable to get a rally moving in the final period, eventually closing the final tally to 10 points at 74-64.
