Warden's 30 Points Lifts SE to 76-50 Win at SAU

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Kenzli Warden dropped 30 points and Southeastern outscored Southern Arkansas 25-7 in the third quarter en route to a 76-50 win on Saturday afternoon in Magnolia, Ark.
 
The win is the team's fifth in-a-row and lifts the team's record to 10-11 overall on the season and 7-8 in Great American Conference play.
 
Warden finished the contest with 30 points on 13-of-16 shooting from the field, and added 5 rebounds in the effort.
 
Tori Kilburn was next in line with 19 points, shooting 70 percent on the day.
 
Katie Allen, in her second start, followed up her 22 point performance with a nine point effort versus SAU.
 
Mackenzie Espinosa and Warden led the way on the boards for SE with five each, while Stevie Stinchcomb handed out a team-high three assists.
 
As a team, SE finished the contest shooting 59.2 percent, while holding the Muleriders to a 27.6 percent shooting effort.
 
SAU jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but Warden and Kilburn combined on the next 11 to take the lead 11-6.
 
The Muleriders would chip away at the SE advantage and the teams would close the opening quarter trading buckets with Southern Arkansas ultimately 19-17 lead at the end of one.
 
Kilburn opened the second quarter with the first five points, giving the Storm a 22-19 lead early in the second.
 
SE would push its lead to six points at the 3:31 mark on a Warden bucket, and the Storm would ultimately take the six point lead, 35-29, into the half.
 
SE opened the second half scoring the first 13 points capped by an Espinoza jumper, and the Storm would outscore the Muleriders 12-7 over the remainder of the quarter to take a 60-36 lead into the final frame.
 
Southeastern took its largest lead of the night at 27 points on a pair of Warden free throws with 5:29 to play.
 
The Storm would hold on to pick up a 76-50 victory.
