Softball Tripped Up in Finale Against Harding

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern finished its three-game series with Harding on Saturday afternoon and was tripped up by the Lady Bisons in the finale, 7-0.

SE (12-19, 6-9 GAC) hits the road again, as they travel to Shawnee, Okla., to face No. 14 Oklahoma Baptist in a three-game GAC series on March 27 and 28

The Savage Storm recorded six hits, but struggled defensively with four errors, while HU finished with seven hits and one error. Iliana Olivares notched two of the team's six hits, while Tally Rowland and Anley Hewitt each had a double. In the circle,

Emily Simmons started game three and went 2.0 innings with six runs surrendered on five hits, and Alyson Malone would close out the final 5.0 frames.

The Storm trailed Harding after one inning, as the Lady Bisons struck first for two runs in the top of the first. SE was limited early by HU's pitching staff, as the blue and gold tallied one hit through the first three innings. This allowed the Lady Bisons to add to their lead, scoring four more runs in the top of the third to stretch their advantage to 6-0.

Harding's edge soon grew to 7-0 with another run scored in the top fourth to push the gap. SE recorded baserunners in the fourth and fifth but were unable to chain together hits to advance its runners. The Storm looked to pull a run back in the sixth with a pair of runners on after a single by Olivares and a double from Tally Rowland, but the breakthrough hit would not come before the final out. HU would hold Southeastern to one baserunner in the seventh after a leadoff single by Laci Larsen to get the win.
