Storm Stumble in Series Opener Versus ECU

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern saw a lead disappear in the ninth before dropping the series opener versus rival East Central by a 7-6 score in 10 innings on Friday afternoon at Mike Metheny Field.
 
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 26-19 overall on the season and 17-14 in Great American Conference play with he final two games of the series slated from a noon doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
 
JJ Bush led the way in the contest for SE with three hits, two of them home runs, with a pair of RBI.
 
Austin Parker connected on a three-run home run, while Easton Ford, Ryan Kirk, Jacob Ambriz, Logan Rose, and Alex Showalter each picked up a hit.
 
Dylan Hill got the start and tossed six innings and allowed a run on five hits in a no decision.
 
Estevan Fonseca followed with 2.1 innings of work, allowing four runs, three earned, on one hit with two strikeouts.
 
Brayden Phelps followed with one-third of an inning, allowing a run on two hits before Carson Abbot came on and suffered the loss after allowing a run on a hit in 1.1 innings.
 
ECU struck first with back-to-back two-out doubles bringing home a run for a 1-0 lead.
 
The Storm answered in the bottom half, loading the bases before Heid drew a walk to plate a run and knot the score at 1-1.
 
Bush gave SE its first lead of the day with a moon-shot home run to right field, pushing the lead to 2-1.
 
Parker extended the Storm lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the seventh, connecting on a pinch-hit, three-run homer to left field.
 
Bush connected on his second homer of the day in the bottom of the eighth, clearing the right-center wall and pushing the Storm lead to 6-1.
 
The Tigers responded in the top of the ninth with five runs to knot the score at 6-6 and force extra innings.
 
ECU took a lead in the top half of the 10th inning, scoring a run on a controversial call at first base that would have been the third out of the inning but was not called and allowed the go-ahead run to score.
 
The Storm loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning, but were unable to bring home the tying or winning run.
