Courtne St. Clair joined the softball coaching staff in the fall of 2012. She was promoted to full time assistant a year later.
In just her second season she helped the program to its longest postseason run ever as the team advanced to the NCAA National Final where they would ultimately finish third.
That finish would earn the team, which posted a 45-20 record on the year, a No. 4 national ranking to end the year, also the program’s best final ranking. This run earned St. Clair honors as part of the NFCA Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
The team won a regular season conference championship for the second-straight season and featured an All-American in Jessica Simmons, five All-Central Region honorees (Simmons, Mindy McElroy, Haley Strawn, Laramie Beal and Sydney Kramer), as well as a sweep of the Great American Conference’s top individual honors. Simmons was named Player of the Year and McElroy Pitcher of the Year as a total of six players earned all-conference honors.
In her first season as an assistant the team picked up the school’s first GAC Championship, sweeping the regular season and tournament titles, and posting a 45-9 record on the year. That team won six-straight games against teams that were or would become nationally ranked, including three top-10 teams, to win the NFCA Division II Leadoff Classic and climbed all the way to a No. 2 national ranking.
St. Clair, a native of Duncan, Okla., makes the transition to coaching after completing her playing career with the Savage Storm.
She was an all-conference honoree as a senior after hitting .312 and driving in 25 runs. She also earned academic all-Great American Conference honors as a senior.
She came to SE after two seasons at Seminole State where she was a two-time all-region selection while also earning academic All-American honors.
