Spencer Barnett joined the Southeastern coaching staff int he fall of 2023.
He returns to the field after starting his own construction and real estate enterprises int he area, but will have no trouble stepping back on the diamond for the Savage Storm having played and coached on the baseball diamond under Hall of Fame Coach Mike Metheny.
Barnett is a 2008 graduate of Broken Arrow HS, earning All-State honors while also adding all-metro and all-conference selections during his junior and senior years.He was as a four-year starter under Shannon Dobson, hitting .420 for his career. Notably, he also earned letters in both basketball and football.Â
Following high school, he began his collegiate career at Seminole State where he helped the to the NJCAA World Series in 2009and would go on to earn the Rawlings Gold Glove award at shortstop in 2010. He posted a .331 average during his freshman year and an even more impressive .348 with five home runs during his sophomore season.
From there he would continue playing at Oral Roberts, helping the Golden Eagles to a regional championship.Â
In his senior season at Southeastern, Barnett earned Great American Conference All-Tournament team honors to conclude his 2012 season. The second baseman maintained a .252 batting average throughout the year, concluding the season with 10 doubles, a home run, and 19 RBI; and continued to boast a .981 fielding percentage with a mere three errors out of 162 chances.Â
Barnett completed a double major from Southeastern in 2014 in Computer Science and Management Information Systems, and would follow with a master's degree in Sports Administration from SE.
Barnett's and his wife Jade, have two children Jett and Maddox.Â
