Keith Baxter, who served as the University¹s head football coach from 2001-2004, was named Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Southeastern Oklahoma State University during the summer of 2008.
A native of Holdenville, Oklahoma, Baxter was a standout quarterback at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where he earned bachelor and master¹s degrees. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, and then moved to New Mexico State, where he served as defensive backs coach in 1987-88. Baxter joined the Southeastern staff in 1989 as offensive coordinator.
He assumed the head coaching duties in 2001 and compiled a 25-16 record over his four years. His 2004 squad was the Lone Star Conference North Division co-champion and advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
He has 20 years of service to the University under his belt, serving in multiple capacities prior to his appointment as director of athletics, including assistant and head football coaching duties, as well as coaching men’s tennis.
Baxter and his wife, Teenie, are the parents of two daughters, Ashley and Kaylie.
