SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southeastern's woes continued on the volleyball court as the Savage Storm slipped to 0-4 to start the year following losses to St. Mary's and Abilene Christian on Saturday in San Antonio, Texas.
SE opened the day with a 3-0 loss to the host Rattlers of STMU, falling 25-19, 25-19 and 25-16. The weekend came to a close with a 3-0 loss to ACU, dropping sets by scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-22.
Emily Gentle turned in the day's best offensive performance, finishing the St. Mary's contest with 14 kills and hitting .312 for the match. Her mark was good enough to lead all attackers.
Megan Kunkel was right behind with nine kills.
Madelynne Cera ditched out 22 assists while chipping in four kills and four digs.
Defensively, Taylor Benner and Marina Dias each picked up 11 digs, while Cera and Jasmine Everage each added two blocks.
In the finale, Kunkel led the offense with another nine-kill outing, while Gentle was on her heels with eight.
Cera added five kills while dishing out 18 assists and just missing a double-double with nine digs.
Benner chipped in a day's-best mark of 17 digs, while Dias also hit double-figures with another 11 dig outing.
Southeastern will be back in action Sept. 7-8 when it travels to Stephenville, Texas, for the Tarleton State Classic.
