HOT SPRINGS, Texas – Southeastern saw its 2014 season come to an end on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the Great American Conference with a 3-0 loss to Southern Nazarene in Hot Springs, Ark.

The loss drops the Savage Storm to 18-14 overall on the year which is tied for the fourth most wins in a season in school history.

Megan Kunkel paced the club with nine kills, while
Julia Benford added seven and
Courtney Miller chipped in six.

Alissa Benson triggered the offense with 17 assists while adding a pair of kills, and seven digs.

Defensively
Kelsey Zerkel turned in a team-best 20 digs, while
Emily Gentle checked in with 15.

Gentle also added four blocks, while
Ariel Sanders chipped in three.

The first set was a back-and-forth battle, with SE closing to 9-8 early. However, SNU would outscore the Storm 16-2 from that point on to take the first set 25-10.

The Crimson Storm jumped out to a 7-1 lead early and pushed that top 20-8 before SE used a 14-2 run to close to one point, but SNU would score the final points and hand SE a 25-232 loss in the second set.

SE would again fall behind 7-1 in the third set and would eventually rally to close the gap to 19-18. However, the Crimson Storm would score six of the final eight points to win the third set 25-20 and take the match 3-0.
