RAPID CITY, S.D. – Despite shooting over 50 percent from the field, Southeastern was unable to get back into the win column on Wednesday night, falling at South Dakota School of Mines, 86-75.
 
The Savage Storm slip to 1-5 overall on the season with the loss heading into a Nov. 28 matchup at 2:30 p.m. against Hillsdale Freewill Baptist in Rapid City.
 
Danny Powell led all scorers on the night with 20 points, and completed the double-double by adding 11 rebounds.
 
Taylor Smaller added 12 points in the effort while 
Antonio Worthy chipped in 10.
 
Overall the Storm held a 50.8-to-47.1 percent edge in shooting on the night, however SDSOM did get up nine more shots than SE.
 
Southeastern held a 30-18 edge in bench points, and added advantages of 42-40 in points in the paint and 17-16 in second chance points, while the Hardrockers outscored SE 14-9 off turnovers.
 
Powell's 11 board led the Storm on the glass, however SE was outrebounded as a team by a 38-to-34 edge.
 
Sami Bzai dished out a team-high four assists on the night.
 
SE opened with the first four points of the game, but seven-straight point by SDSOM would put the home team in front early.
 
The Storm would briefly regain the lead when a 
Darius Harris layup put SE in front 16-15.
 
The contest was back-and-forth until a Hardrocker run put them out in front by six, their largest lead of the half.  SE would eventually close the halftime deficit to 38-36.
 
A Bzai bucket early in the second half would give the Storm an early 42-41 lead, but SDSOM would answer with 12 straight points to open up a 53-45 lead.
 
Southeastern was unable to find another rally from that point, falling 86-75.
