Storm Drop Road Matchup at ATU

Box Score RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern's Urald King led all scorers with 25 on the night, but it was Arkansas Tech who pulled away in the second half to hand the Savage Storm a 73-55 loss on Monday night in Russellville, Ark.

The loss dips SE to 8-16 overall on the season and 5-13 in Great American Conference play, moving them back into a tie with Ouachita Baptist for the eighth and final spot in the conference tournament with two games to play.

The game is King's seventh 20-plus point game on the year, finishing with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting.

John Balwigaire was the team's only other double-digit scorer, finishing with 10, while Taylor Smaller was just shy of the double-digit mark with eight.

King also led the team in rebounds with eight, while Smaller grabbed seven boards and dished out a team-high four assists.

The Storm held a slight 8-7 advantage in second chance points, but was unable to overcome ATU edges in points in the paint and points off turnovers.

The teams traded the lead out of the gate, with neither team holding more than a one possession advantage until the 13:16 mark of the half when a King layup off a Smaller pass put the Storm up 13-9.

That lead would grow to six points before a Wonder Boy 15-2 run flipped the score and gave the home team a 26-29 advantage with 6:54 to go in the half.

SE would close the gap back to two points before ATU scored the final bucket of the half and took a 33-29 lead into the break.

Southeastern finally regained the lead on a Balwigaire layup just over two minute into the second half at 36-35, but ATU answered and pushed its lead out to seven points.

A Balwigaire three with 13:35 to play would cut the gap to four points, but the Wonder Boys would score the next two buckets on their way to outscoring the Storm 27-12 over the remainder of the contest to pull away with the 73-55 win.
