DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern men's tennis will set out to make waves in the Great American Conference standings this weekend when it squares off against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents as it faces No. 40 Ouachita Baptist at 1 p.m. on April 4 in Arkadelphia, Ark., before heading to Searcy, Ark., to face No. 50 Harding on April 5 at 1 p.m.
The Savage Storm enter the contest at 8-5 overall on the year, with Friday's matchup against OBU being the first conference match of the season.
SE enters the weekend ranked eighth in the ITA's Central Region rankings, while The Tigers are third and the Bisons are in a three-way tie for fourth.
SE is paced in doubles by its number two duo of
Alberto Blesa and
Tiago Ferreira who have turned in a 6-3 mark in doubles play, including tight losses to ranked opponents.
Ferreira has often carried his doubles momentum into singles play, posting an 8-3 record including wins over players ranked in their divisions.
Petar Popovic has turned in a 5-2 record in singles play to help pace the Storm, turning in wins at the number three and five positions.
OBU comes into the matchup with a 4-5 record on the season, but have lost three of their last four, all to teams ranked in the top-30 in the ITA rankings.
Harding enters the weekend with a 5-5 mark overall, but those five losses have come in their last six matches, including three straight coming into the weekend.
