Volleyball Sweeps Rival ECU

ADA, Okla. – Southeastern closed out the regular season in style by putting up a 3-0 win over rival East Central in Ada, Okla., completing a season sweep of the rivals to the north and earning a win in the season finale.
 
The Savage Storm move to 7-22 on the year with the win and 5-11 in league play and will enter the Great American Conference Tournament presented by Subway as the No. 8 seed and face Arkansas Tech on Nov. 19 in Hot Springs, Ark.
 
On Thursday night SE saw the return of Abby Jameson to the lineup where she made an immediate impact, leading all attackers with nine kills, while Kristina Bergman and Julia Benford added eight each.
 
Arianna Baker followed with six kills and Jessica Baker chipped in five.
 
Alissa Benson dished out 29 assists in the match and added a kill and a pair of blocks.
 
Jameson turned in another double-double and led the defense with 14 digs, while Charlene Nerio chipped in 11.
 
Arianna Baker patrolled the net with six blocks on the night and Bergman added four as SE held an eight-to-three edge in blocks as a team.
 
Southeastern held off a late rally in the first set to pick up a 25-21 win and that was as close as it would get on the night.
 
The Storm would rattle off seven of the last nine points in the second set to take a 2-0 lead after a 25-19 win.
 
The third set was back and forth until the SE mounted a 7-0 run as part of a series where they scored  14 of 17 points to take a huge 23-11 lead and walk out with a 25-14 win in the final set.
