ALVA, Okla. – Southeastern got five scoreless innings from
Dylan Linke and a three-hit performance from
Collin Sefcik, but was unable to hold off a three-run eighth inning by Northwestern Oklahoma State and fell on the road 3-1 in Alva, Okla.

The loss drops the team to 4-4 overall and 0-1 in Great American Conference play with the teams set to take the field again for a double-header beginning at noon on Saturday.

Linke scattered five hits and struck out three over 5.0 innings of work without allowing a run, dropping his ERA over 15.1 innings pitched and three starts on the season to 0.59.

Bryce Clemons tossed 2.2 innings in relief and was saddled with the loss after allowing three runs on two hits, all coming with two outs in the eighth inning.

Mathew Benedict tossed the final one-third of an inning, allowing one hit.

Sefcik collected nearly half of the team's seven hits, finishing the day 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

He would put SE on the board in the top of the fourth, picking up
Corban Taylor after he singled with one out, tripling him home to open up a 1-0 lead.

That would hold firm until the bottom of the eighth when the Rangers scored three runs with two outs to take the lead.

Sefcik would connect on a single in the top of the ninth, but was the lone hit of the inning.
