DURANT, Okla.  – Southeastern split its Sunday double-header with Harding, winning the series finale 4-3 after dropping the first game 15-5, picking up two of the three games in the series at The Ballpark in Durant.
Â
The series win lifts the Savage Storm to 9-9 overall on the season and 5-5 in Great American Conference play leaving the two teams tied at fifth in the league standings.
Â
SE jumped ahead early in the finale, first with
Dylan Helms scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning.
Â
The Storm would add another run in the second on a
Chance Burcham home run, and push its lead to 3-0 when
Kaleb Thomas added a solo homer of his own in the bottom of the third inning.
Â
Southeastern shut out the Bisons for five innings on the arm of
Nick Johnson who would leave the game in the sixth after allowing three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts over 5.1 innings pitched.
Â
HU posted three runs in the sixth to take Johnson off the hook for the decision and leave it on the arm of
Brady Colbert.
Â
Colbert would get the Storm out of the sixth tied at 3-3 and set the Bisons down in order in the top of the seventh.
Â
In the bottom of the seventh Burcham would draw a one-out walk and was lifted for
Cody Coats to pinch run.
Â
Brandon Grimsley followed with a perfect execution of the hit-and-run with a single to left that allowed Coats to move first-to-third.
Â
Thomas was then intentionally walked to load the bases before Helms struck out for the second out in the inning.
Â
Collin Sefcik would drive in the game winning run when he drew a bases loaded, full count walk to plate Coats and seal the series.
Â
Colbert picked up his third win after tossing 1.2 innings in relief and allowing no runs on one hits with one strikeout.
Â
Thomas,
Greg Husnander, Burcham and Grimsley each collected a hit, with Burcham and Thomas each homering.
Â
Sefcik collected the team's other RBI in the game.
Â
The Storm struggled out of the gate in the day's opener, with HU jumping to an 8-0 lead in the first and ultimately going up 14-0 over the first four innings before the Storm got a two-run home from
Jacob Soisson to cut into the deficit.
Â
HU would tack on a run in the fifth, and SE would answer with a two-run Sefcik single and an RBI double by
Conner Koepp to close the gap to 15-5, but that would be the final as the Storm could not narrow the gap to within the run-rule margin.
Â
Thomas and Helms collected two hits each, while five others had one hit apiece.
Â
Sefcik and Soisson each drove in a pair of runs, while Koepp added one RBI.
Â
Evan Sanders got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing five runs on one hit in one-third of an inning pitched.
Â
Cody Luman lasted one-third of an inning in relief and was hit for three runs, just one of which was earned, on one hit.
Â
Storm Griffin tossed 2.1 innings and was touched up for four runs on four hits, while Jonathan Daily tossed an inning, allowing a pair of runs on a hit with two K's, with
Logan Terwilliger tossing the final three innings and allowing a run on three hits.
