EMPORIA, Kan.  – Southeastern's defensive woes continued as the Savage Storm was tagged with seven errors on the afternoon in a pair of losses to No. 20 Emporia State, falling 8-0 and 11-1 in Emporia, Kan.

The losses drop the SE record to 12-14 overall on the season and marks the second four-game losing streak of the season. Prior to this season the Storm had not suffered four-straight losses since the 2007 season.

Southeastern will be back in action on March 24 when it steps back into Great American Conference play for a road double-header against rival East Central in Ada, Okla.

In the opener, Jessica Simons,
Courtney Riddle,
Kalyn Ramber and
Shaina Crites each collected hits, but the Storm was unable to push a run across.

Jessica Seay was hit with the loss after getting the start and tossing 3.0 innings and allowing five runs, four earned, on four hits with three strikeouts.

Ashley Moore tossed two-third of an inning and was hit for three runs on two hits, while
Laramie Beal made her second pitching appearance of the year and faced one batter to record one-third of an inning.

In game two the Storm defense was plagued by five errors which caused six of the 11 ESU runs to be unearned.

Jacee Bennett got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs, five earned on six hits in 1.0 inning pitched.

Moore came on in relief and was hit for five unearned runs on four hits in 3.0 innings pitched.

Simmons,
Haley Strawn, Riddle, Beal,
Arianna Jones,
Conner Harmon and
Darrian Williams each collected a hit, while Riddle drove in the team's lone run which was scored by Simmons.

SE scored in the top of the first when a Riddle single scored Simmons for an early 1-0 lead.

The Hornets would tie the game with a run in the bottom of the first, and follow by adding five in the second, two in the third and three more in the fourth to open up an 11-1 lead which would be the final score.
