Southeastern Sweeps Rangers on Friday

DURANT, Okla.  – Southeastern overcame deficits twice in game one before ultimately coming out with a 6-5 win in 11 innings over Northwestern Oklahoma State before finishing off the Friday sweep with a 5-2 win in the nightcap at the Southeastern Softball Field.

With the wins the Savage Storm have won 10 of its last 11 games and move to 22-17 overall on the season and 18-6 in Great American Conference play with the final two games of the double-header set for noon on Saturday.

In the opener, Sydney Kramer collected four of the team's nine hits, while five others had one hit each.

Haley Strawn would drive in three, with Kramer adding a pair of RBI and Laramie Beal driving in one.

Jessica Seay got the start and collected her ninth win after tossing 8.1 innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts.

Her outing sandwiched a 2.1 inning relief appearance by Jacee Bennett who allowed a pair of runs on three hits with two K's in 2.1 innings of work as well as a one-third of an inning outing by Ashley Moore who faced three batters and allowed a hit.

The Rangers took advantage of two SE errors in third inning, scoring a pair of runs to open up a 2-0 lead.

The Storm rallied with two of their own in the fourth, first when Jessica Simmons scored on a Kramer single and then tying the game on a Strawn sac fly that plated Kramer.

NWOSU would pick up another run in the top of the fifth on a double, but again SE had an answer, this time on a Kramer homer down the right field line to event he game at 3-3 in the sixth which would be the score when the teams went to extra innings.

The Rangers would strike first with a two run effort in the top of the ninth and the Storm looked to be on the ropes with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but Strawn would connect on a two-run homer to again knot the score, this time at 5-5.

Eventually SE would get the hit it needed when Laramie Beal connected on an RBI single that scored Kramer to end the game with a 6-5 win.

Kramer and Strawn continued to lead the way in the nightcap with each picking up three hits, while Simmons and Beal had two each.

Beal, Strawn, Arianna Jones, Darrian Williams and Conner Harmon each drove in a run.

Bennett got the start and allowed a pair of runs on six hits with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work, but it was Seay who got the win in relief, her 10th, after tossing 3.2 scoreless innings and scattering a pair of hits and a pair of K's.

AN RBI single by Beal in the first gave SE the early 1-0 lead.

NWOSU would tie the game in the third, but in the bottom half of the inning a Strawn Single and a Jones sac fly would score a pair of runs and stretch the lead to 3-1.

NWOSU would get one more run in the fourth, but a Williams single and a Harmon squeeze bunt would push the Storm lead to 5-2 which would hold to be the final.
