SE Survives with 7-2 win over ATU

ENID, Okla. – Southeastern used a 15 hit performance coupled with a complete game effort from Dylan Linke to stay alive at the Great American Conference Tournament with a 7-2 win over Arkansas Tech on Sunday afternoon in Enid, Okla.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 18-24 on the season and propels them into a 3:30 p.m. game on Monday afternoon against an as yet undetermined opponent.

Linke turned in an outstanding performance with a GAC Tournament record 162 pitches as he allowed two runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts while picking up his fourth win on the year.

Greg Husnander put the Storm on the board when he led off the third inning with a homer to left field, and Coats stretched the early lead to 2-0 with a sac fly later in the inning that scored Kaleb Thomas.

It was Thomas who would add to the lead in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single that plated Chance Burcham for a 3-0 edge.

ATU would answer with a leadoff home run of its own to open the bottom of the fourth to cut the Storm lead to 3-1.

Southeastern would add another run in the fifth when Dylan Helms score on a Corban Taylor single, but the Wonder Boys would again answer and leave the Storm up 4-2 after five innings.

Brayon Colley and Burcham reached base to open the inning and Husnander connected on a  full-count pitch for an RBI single to score Colley and take a 5-2 lead.

The leads stretched to 6-2 when Thomas reached on a bunt single and an errant throw allowed Burcham to score, and ultimately stretched its lead to 7-2 when Helms grounded into a double play that allowed Husnander to score.

Thomas led the way on offense with a 4-for-5 effort in the leadoff spot including a run scored and an RBI.

Helms, Brandon Grimsley, Burcham and Husnander each added a pair of hits, while Taylor, Collin Sefcik and Brayon Colley chipped in one each.

Husnander accounted for a pair of the team's RBI, while Thomas, Coats and Taylor had one apiece.
