DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern rallied in the fourth quarter and rode a 21 point scoring night from
Katie Webb to a 70-66 win over Ouachita Baptist on Thursday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.
Â
The win lifts the Savage Storm to 4-2 overall on the season and 3-0 in Great American Conference play heading into a 1 p.m. home meeting with Henderson State on Saturday afternoon.
Â
The 21 point outburst is a career-high for Webb who did it on a 50.0 percent shooting effort and an 8-of-8 effort at the free throw line.
Â
Olivia Potter and
Alix Robinson each turned in 111 points, with Potter draining three threes and Robinson adding a pair.
Â
Sa'Liesha Hunter turned in eight points on the night and four assists, while
Rachel Wallace led the team with five assists.
Â
The Storm shot 35.9 percent from the field on the night but were bolstered by an outstanding night at the charity stripe where they hit 18-of-24 for the night, including 12-of-14 in the second half.
Â
Emem David pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds as SE outrebounded the Tigers by a 51-to-37 margin, with everyone who played for the storm recording a rebound, which included nine from Hunter, eight from Wallace and Seven from Webb.
Â
SE used its 16-to-10 edge on the offensive glass top own a 27-10 advantage in second chance points.
Â
The contest featured seven ties and 11 lead changes, including three times in the fourth quarter when SE tied the score before ultimately regaining the edge.
Â
Southeastern burst out of the gate with a 15-7 lead after one quarter, but the Tigers flipped the momentum in the second quarter and held a 21-9 edge which translated into a 28-24 Storm deficit at the break.
Â
OBU held a 27-25 lead in third-quarter scoring to hold a 55-49 lead heading to the final frame.
Â
A Potter three at the 7:06 mark would get the deficit to one possession for the first time in the quarter, but was not until the 4:26 mark when Webb hit a layup off a Wallace pass to tie the game at 60-60.
Â
The teams would trade buckets with SE tying the game twice more before a Robinso0n jumper with 1:41 to play would put the Storm up 66-65.
Â
A pair of Webb free throws with 13 seconds to play would make the lead three points, with OBU cutting it back to two by hitting one of two free throws with two seconds remaining.
Â
Wallace would go to the free throw line with one second to play and ice the contest by hitting both shots and securing the 70-66 final score.
